2. Apple HealthKit
♡ HealthKit Data Protection
If you grant permission, Kilra reads sleep, heart rate, step count, and active minutes from Apple Health. This data is used exclusively on your device to generate health correlations and insights. We never upload, transmit, sell, or share HealthKit data with any third party, advertising network, or data broker. HealthKit data is never used for marketing or advertising purposes.
You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Kilra.
3. Analytics, Subscriptions & Advertising
Kilra uses a few third-party services to improve the app, manage subscriptions, and measure our ads. None of them ever receives your symptoms, journal entries, or HealthKit data:
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics (for example, which onboarding steps are viewed). Not linked to your identity and never used for advertising.
- RevenueCat — validates and manages your subscription purchases.
- Meta (Facebook) — measures how our ads perform (app installs and purchases) so we can reach the right people. This runs only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. It receives your install and purchase events and advertising identifier — never your health data. You can decline, or change it anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
4. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or any account credentials
- We never send your symptoms, journal entries, or health data to advertisers or analytics — advertising measurement receives only app install and purchase events (see section 3)
- We do not serve advertisements
- We do not sell or rent your data; the only data shared with third parties is the analytics and advertising events described in section 3
- We do not use your data for machine learning model training
- We have no servers that receive your health information
5. On-Device Processing
All analysis, correlations, wellness scoring, and predictions run entirely on your device using Apple's CoreML framework. No health data is ever sent to external servers or cloud APIs for processing.
6. Data Storage & Security
- Local data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework with device-level encryption
- Data is protected by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID
- Analytics events are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections and contain no health data
- We use no custom encryption — we rely on Apple's proven, audited security stack
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data exists only as long as you keep it. You can:
- Export all data as CSV from Settings > Data > Export Data
- Delete individual entries by swiping left in History
- Clear all data from Settings > Data > Clear All Data
- Reset the app from Settings > Account > Reset App
- Delete the app to remove all local data permanently
When you delete data, it is removed from your device immediately. Kilra stores your health data only on your device, so there is nothing on our servers to delete.
8. Children's Privacy
Kilra is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, the data exists only on that device and can be deleted by removing the app.
9. Third-Party Services
Kilra uses the following services:
- Apple HealthKit — read health data (with your permission)
- Apple StoreKit — process subscription purchases
- RevenueCat — subscription management and validation
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics (no health data)
- Meta (Facebook) — advertising measurement and attribution, only with your App Tracking consent (no health data)
- Open-Meteo — fetch weather data for correlations
10. Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the revised version here with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Getting Started
How do I log a symptom?
Tap the + button on the home screen. Select your symptom, rate its severity (1-10), add optional triggers and notes, then save. Your entry appears in History immediately.
What's the Wellness Score?
Your Wellness Score (0-100) is calculated from your onboarding answers and daily tracking data. It reflects your overall symptom burden, lifestyle factors, and trends. Higher is better. The score updates as you log more data.
How does the daily check-in work?
Each day, the home screen prompts you to rate your mood and energy level. You can also log sleep hours, stress level, and water intake. These feed into your lifestyle correlations.
Insights & Correlations
How are correlations calculated?
Kilra uses statistical methods (Pearson correlation, Welch's t-test) to find patterns in your data. You need at least 5 data points over 30 days for meaningful correlations. More data = better insights.
What is a flare-up alert?
When your recent 3-day symptom severity exceeds your 14-day baseline by 1.5+ points, or your logging frequency doubles, Kilra flags a potential flare-up with severity tiers (mild, moderate, severe).
Data & Privacy
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings > Data > Export Data. Your symptom entries, check-ins, and medications are exported as a CSV file that you can share with your healthcare provider.
Does my data sync across devices?
No. To keep your health data fully private, Kilra stores everything only on the device you use. Your data is never uploaded to our servers or synced to the cloud. Use Settings > Data > Export Data to move your data yourself.
How do I delete all my data?
Settings > Data > Clear All Data removes all symptom entries, journals, and medications. Settings > Account > Reset App also clears your onboarding profile. Deleting the app removes everything from the device.
Subscriptions
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the Settings app on your iPhone > Tap your name > Subscriptions > Kilra > Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign into the same Apple ID. Kilra automatically detects your active subscription via StoreKit. If it doesn't appear, go to the paywall screen and tap "Restore Purchases."
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.

Your Data Rights
You have complete control over your health data.
Right to Access
All your data is visible directly in the app. Use Settings > Data > Export Data to download a complete CSV of your symptom history, check-ins, and medications.
Right to Deletion
You can delete individual entries, clear all data, or reset the entire app. We don't retain backups of your data — once deleted, it's gone.
🔒 Data deletion is permanent
When you clear your data or reset the app, it's removed from your device. Copies inside an existing iCloud Backup are removed by Apple when that backup is next replaced. There is no recovery option. Export your data first if you want a backup.
Right to Portability
Your data can be exported as CSV at any time. This standard format is compatible with spreadsheet apps, healthcare portals, and other health tracking tools.
Right to Restrict Processing
You can disable individual features:
- HealthKit — toggle off in Settings > Tracking > Apple Health
- Notifications — toggle off in Settings > Tracking > Reminders
- iCloud Backup — Kilra does not sync your data to iCloud. iOS may include the app's local data in your device backup; turn this off under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups
GDPR & CCPA Compliance
While Kilra processes all data on-device with no server-side storage, we respect the principles of GDPR and CCPA:
- We collect the minimum data necessary for the app's function
- We provide full transparency about what data is used and why
- You can access, export, and delete your data at any time
- We do not sell personal information under any circumstances
California Residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. Since we do not sell any personal information, the right to opt out does not apply. For questions, email keshav-krishnan@outlook.com.
